Seven centuries behind the walls of the Knights
The estate lies within the Old Town of Rhodes, near St George's Bastion, against the castle wall in the quarter once held by the Spanish knights.
Named after Fabrizio del Carretto, the 43rd Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller, it brings together three buildings of 900 m², a 750 m² garden and a Byzantine chapel enclosed within the walls. Spanish insignia are still carved into its walls.

Each room carries the name of a figure from the history of Rhodes, and the style of its era: Oriental, Byzantine, Medieval, Crusader and Venetian.

Built by the Knights
The Knights of St John Hospitaller raise the main building beside the walls, home to the Spanish knights of the Order.

Fabrizio del Carretto
The Italian nobleman serves as 43rd Grand Master. His coat of arms is still carved on the wall within the grounds.

The Great Siege
Ottoman explosives breach the wall here; the area changes hands three times before the Spanish knights hold it.

Pashas and imams
The buildings take on Arabic architectural touches and house high officials and scholars; the chapel entrance is sealed.
